Driving Star -- Project Allende 1

I just got back from a night of music in the Bauern hotel, a worker-run cooperative and a nineteen story high hotel three blocks from my new place. There were Cubans, Venezuelans and some Argentines and 3 gringos, myself included.

About a half hour ago I shook the hand of an older doctor, the host. He's ninety now and he became famous due to the fact that he took a bike trip on with one Ernesto 'Che' Guevara.

He wrote a book about it called "Con el Che por America Latina", (With Che through Latin America). His mate's book was called Diarios de Motocicleta (The Motorcycle Diaries), you may have read it, or seen the movie? His next book was even more interesting. I recommend them if you ever decide to drive the route.

Seņor Alberto Granado is here from Cuba to celebrate the birthday of his friend who would have turned 80 this month (a mere kid) if he hadn't been shot in Bolivia the year he was to turn 40.

Saludos del Che y de Alberto!
